Big Society The Musical

Is a feature film being shot on location in Liverpool.  The salary: Deferred Payment/ Expenses
Whats it about?
 A a stark piece of social realism that is set in Liverpool against the backdrop of the cuts. The story is centred on Linda, a sympathetic woman in her late 40s who works with young offenders. After losing her job because of the pending closure of the centre where she works, Linda tries desperately to help Connor, the 13-year-old boy she has been mentoring, risking her relationship, her home and her reputation in the process. But will she be able to save him before it's too late?

Auditions for Connor will take place on September 28th in Liverpool. We will also be looking to audition for supporting characters as detailed below.

Production will take place from September-December 2011.

Please note that this is a low budget film and expenses will only be paid for local travel. If actors are interested in working with us on this film and live outside of the Merseyside area we will not be able to pay for these expenses.

Connor is a male.  Playing age 13-14.Young institutionalised re offender and Liverpudlian.
  Legitimate anger from mothers death, arson, asbo .  Singing required.
Also looking for a bully Character

Male playing age 13-14, Picks on Connor, a thug of the Youth Offenders unit
. Weak Character Male playing age 13-14.Runt of the young offenders litter - used as the butt of Connors jokes.

In addition to these young characters we also require some additional cast which if you may wish to circulate to appropriate contacts.

Adoption Worker  Female 30  Social Worker Type, plays by the rules.
Mark Peters Youth Support Worker Male 28, Bright, ambitious.

Bill Harris Male 50 Social worker with 15 years employment at the Centre.
His job’s all he’s got.

Noel Harrington Male 28, Job title: Counsellor – Psychologist – published Confident he wont be the first to lose his job at the Centre.

Alex Wilkes Male 40 Larry loves the relationships he has with the offenders he mentors
. His job is more than a pay cheque – he’s a people person and a bit of a chameleon. 1 x Male and 1 x Female adult Foster Carers.
