OPEN CASTING FOR BBC'S 'THE VOICE'

Applications for the BBC’s new talent contest, The Voice, are now open!

Based on the hugely successful American show (which was in turn inspired by a Dutch show), The Voice is a competition which claims to care about one thing and one thing only. You can probably guess what that is from the title.

If you think that you have what it takes to warble your way success then sign up for a blind audition at www.bbc.co.uk/thevoiceuk and be free to sing on one of the dates and locations listed below.

London: 31st October – 2nd November and 25th – 26th November 2011
Birmingham: 5th November – 6th November 2011
Cardiff: 9th November – 10th November 2011
Glasgow: 14th November – 15th November 2011
Manchester: 18th November – 19th November 2011
Belfast: 22nd November 2011

And yes, you did read that correctly, BLIND auditions are the name of the game with the BBCs take on the ever popular but increasingly brutal, X-Factor.

The show’s format features three stages of contest: the “Blind Auditions, the “Battles “, and finally, the “Live Shows”.
During The Blind Auditions, the decisions from the judges are based solely on the voices they hear – and nothing else.

Artists perform but they are only revealed to a judge in their full glory if he/she is impressed by their voice enough to push a button to select the artist. At this point, their chair rotates so they can see just who is singing so sweetly.

If more than one coach makes the all important swivel, the power shifts to the artist, who may then choose which coach they most want to work with throughout the contest.
The judges are rumoured to include: ex-factor Cheryl Cole; chart-topper Adele and Crazy singer Cee Lo Green.

Once through the blind auditions, contestants will move on to be mentored by the artist judges personally and will battle it out with the other contestants in a bid to make it through to the live shows.
The audience at home will then have the chance to save one artist every week and boot off anyone who hits one too many bum notes.

The prize? That would be a recording contract with Universal Music.

The Voice UK will be coming to BBC One in Spring 2012. For updates, connect with The Voice UK on Twitter – www.twitter.com/bbcthevoiceuk and Facebook – www.facebook.com/bbcthevoiceuk.
