So sorry for neglecting you on here.  It's just that the Casting platform really has taken off.

Finding an Agent?

Why wait for an Agent to put you forward?  That is if you have got one.  Many people find it hard to find an Agent. There is that Catch 22 situation where the so called 'good Agents' won't accept you on their books unless you have a track record or experience and you can't get either unless you have an Agent.  Do you really need an Agent though?

An Agent? 

When you do eventually find an Agent, how good are they?  If you are lucky and have a good agent anything you do for yourself can only propel your career.
If you have not got a good agent then you have to take more control of your situation.

One of my Agents looked after a lot of TV and radio presenters.  When one had dropped out of favour and he could no longer market them, he would turn his attention to the others in his stable that he could.  I was in the office on occasions when a job came in that I knew I was suitable for. I wasn't offered that opportunity. The Agent choose the safe bet, the guy who was most marketable at the time. Understandable isn't it?  So I had to find my own work through my own contacts.

What becomes of you, the Artiste, if after a period of time nothing is happening?
You may discover that the Agent has handed over your file, your future, your career to some intern in their office to take care of!  It happened to me.
I signed to an Agency  for 3 years. After 3 months he left to become a partner of another Agency.  My 'file' was passed to someone else in the office to be taken care of, someone less quailfied.  After 2 months I left, but not before having to pay him off with £7,000 for the release of my contract.

There are a few people from my era that did that. You know who they are, because they are still working.  Ross King is one of them.  He and I worked parallel careers for many years during the 80's and 90's.  Both fitting a similar criteria in radio and television presenting, then Ross took charge of his future.
A true professional, a very good negotiator and a good businessman. He represents himself. His career has gone where he wanted it to go.  Ross, or 'Braveheart' as I call him, now lives under the letter D of the Hollywood sign in LA, in a great house, with a pool, his own radio studio and his lovely lady. He is doing what he enjoys and on his terms.

The 'Agent', as we once knew it, is a dying breed. It's a dated concept.  Times have changed and now there is an approach that could see you living next door to Braveheart, under the letter O.  A new medium has made it possible to cut out the middle man and end handing over a percentage of your hard earned money.
The 'Internet' has opened up a new way for you to be seen and heard and to find the jobs that Agents used to only have access to.  My casting platform displays auditions and opportunities that are updated daily.

A MONOLOGUE FOR THE LADIES

Of course, having a monologue from Shakespeare can be a great vechicle... but they leave the audience out... they are only performed for performance sake...  

Agent 24 Casting will, over time, introduce you to some resources of alternative monologues that you can use.  So be sure to regularly return to our blog pages to check the postings.
Finding good monologues for women can be difficult. Here is one from a woman who was wronged and died without ever being able to get that important information out. It's a 'messages from the grave' so to speak.

It is not a self-absorbed monologue that is just spoken to the air.  It directly addresses the people you are performing in front of, or auditioning for.
When Reuben Pantier ran away and threw me
I went to Springfield.
There I met a lush, whose father just deceased left him a fortune.
He married me when drunk.  My life was wretched.
A year passed and one day they found him dead.
That made me rich.  I moved on to Chicago.
After a time met Tyler Rountree, villain.
I moved on to New York.  A gray-haired magnate
went mad about me - so another fortune.
He died one night right in my arms, you know.
I saw his purple face for years thereafter.
There was almost a scandal.
I moved on, this time to Paris.
I was now a woman, insidious,
subtle, versed in the world and rich.
My sweet apartment near the Champs Elysees
became a center for all sorts of people.
Musicians, poets, dandies, artists, nobles,
where we spoke French and German, Italian, English.
I wed Count Navigato, native of Genoa.
We went to Rome.  He poisoned me, I think.
Now in the Campo Santo overlooking the sea
where you Columbus dreamed new worlds,
see what they chiseled: "Contessa Navigato Implora Eterna Quiete." ****
****translated means "Countess Navigato Asks For Enternal Peace."

This is great for your audition, because now you are connected to your audience. You are speaking directly to them. Because your 'audience' (the casting people) are already there to watch you perform, your direct engagement of them gives you command over them.And, who hasn't heard the term a "commanding performance?"

Central Europe has been a blasted ruin for 25 years. Chemical and biological weaponry has made vast swathes of land uninhabitable, strange experiments have created monstrosities, the cities are fought over for strategic bunker locations and their dwindling infrastructure.
A group of Recon soldiers drop deep within enemy territory to take an AA site to disrupt a Red Navy airship fleet. But the AA site looks deserted.  This is a short shoot for the trailer, to gain funding for the main shoot. Successful applicants will be considered for the full short film shoot.

Prefer candidates from the S.Wales area due to budgetary constraints.

FILMING IN LONDON 'USHERS' ACTORS WANTED

Men & Women Actors -  Film extras required- Filming in London 

 Ushers is a comedy about our fearless hero, Trevor embarking upon a new and exciting thrill-ride of an adventure by getting a job as a member of the Front of House team at a theatre. There he meets and befriends several quirky characters and quickly falls in love with a very hot and very French girl, Aimee. Unfortunately Aimee is dating the rather homosexual, and incredibly French Jean. Life progresses...

We are planning to shoot four short 1-2 minute virals that will be released online at the end of the year. The purpose of these virals will be to garner an online audience, and also to test audience reaction to the material. All of this will be used to assist in the pitch for a 6-episode series (with potential for further seasons). The virals will be shot quickly and simply. This is a low budget production. Minimal crew, minimal equipment. Unfortunately we cannot offer any pay, but we will provide food and travel expenses during the rehearsal and shooting periods.

Roles Available ..

Up to 10 film extras, no experience needed

Female 18-24 yrs. 

Caucasian. Aimee is enchanting. She casts a spell upon men that is almost impossible to resist. She doesn’t have to be typically beautiful; rather she needs to be attractive. She needs to have an intrinsic sex appeal that Trevor (and the audience) finds ever so appealing. She is an incredibly well practiced manipulator. She knows exactly what to say in any situation to turn it to her favour. This can sometimes almost come across as bi-polar in the way she can flip a switch to change her personality to suit any circumstance.

Male 25-30 yrs. Any Ethnicity. 

Jean is a tricky character to portray. He needs to be a closet homosexual who comes across as gay to Trevor and the audience, but at the same time there needs to be a machismo that could somehow convince everyone else that he’s straight. We need the performer to be able to play a larger than life, almost OTT character whilst still making him believable. WE MUST BELIEVE THE PERFORMANCE. Comic sense and timing is extremely important. And you must be comfortable with playing an overtly homosexual character, once again while retaining a sense of realism.
