CHANNEL 4 TOP BOY AUDITIONS CANCELLED
Hundreds of young acting hopefuls were left disappointed after heading to Hackney for their shot at fame. The show Top Boy, which in it's first season starred Ashley Walters and rapper Kano was advertising for new talent. No previous acting experience necessary!
The Open auditions for Channel 4's critically acclaimed drama was cancelled despite hundreds of young people turning up and without notice leaving many people disappointed.
The casting call was scheduled to take place today (Sunday) at Hoxton Hall, in Hoxton Street, Hackney, between 12pm and 5pm. The Casting directors said they were looking for black, mixed race, Asian and other "non-white" teenagers aged between 13 and 16 to appear in the second season of Top Boy.
Following the invite, hundreds of young people headed to Hackney for a chance to earn a place on the show. Some reports claim there was more than 2,000 people in the queue.
But organisers started to turn away young hopefuls, who had been queuing for hours, causing anger to erupt in some sections of the crowd.
It has raised questions about whether the auditions were properly organised and what measures had been put in place to protect the young people they had invited.
Actor Walters waded into the debate on Twitter: "Another opportunity wasted to get into the game. Don't blame me!"
One Twitter user said: "Do NOT go to the Top Boy audition it is kicking off down here. I've got my girls and we are going home."
A Met Police spokesman confirmed there had been no reports of violence but said officers did attend to help with crowd dispersal. There are no plans to reschedule the auditions at this point.

SHERIDAN SMITH

| As Rudi in Gavin & Stacey |
Before Two Pints she played Emma, the girlfriend of Antony, Ralf Little's character, in The Royle Family. All those roles were played for laughs, but this week she has appeared in two 'straight roles'. First was in the ITV1 film adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's novel The Scapegoat and in the title role in 'Mrs Biggs', a five episode drama being shown Wednesday nights on ITV1.

In 2012, she received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role for her performance as Doris in the revival of Flare Path. Her road to becoming a critically acclaimed West End theatre actress goes back to her childhood where she studied dance with the Joyce Mason School of Dancing in Scunthorpe. She was first seen on our screens as a housemaid in 1999 in the mini-series Wives and Daughters and in a relatively short time has managed to establish herself as one of this country's finest actors.

TOM CRUISE BRIDE AUDITION CLAIMS!
NO MORE BOUNCING ON SOFAS FOR TOM... NOT YET ANYWAY
Loving all the rumours coming out of Hollywood about Tom Cruise and how he allegedly found love. There seems to be a court case brewing between Tom's church and Vanity Fair magazine... Here is a taster originally published on NME.com
Tom Cruise denies "bride auditions" by Church of ScientologyLawyer dismisses a story claiming
that Scientology leaders held "auditions" to
find Cruise a partner.
Tom Cruise's lawyer has denied claims that the
Church of Scientology held "auditions" to find
the actor a new partner before he
began dating Katie Holmes.
In an article published by Vanity Fair, it is alleged that Shelly Miscavige,
the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige, led a secret project to
pair up Cruise following his split from Penelope Cruz in 2004.
The article claims that Iranian-born British actress Nazanin Boniadi
made it through a month-long recruitment process, then began
dating Cruise before their relationship soured.
However, Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields has now spoken out against the article,
saying Vanity Fair's story is essentially a rehash of tired old lies previously run
in the supermarket tabloids, quoting the same bogus 'sources'. It's long, boring
and false. In the article, it is also claimed that Boniadi was "punished"
after disclosing her relationship with Cruise to a third party. However, a
spokesperson for the Church of Scientology denied this, telling Vanity Fair:
"The Church does not punish people, especially in [that] manner."
Cruise, 50, is currently single after his five-year marriage to Holmes ended in
divorce in July (2012). He was previously married to Mimi Rogers, who
introduced him to the Church of Scientology, from 1987 to 1990, and to
Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001.
Boniadi is not quoted directly by Vanity Fair, but Oscar-winning screenwriter
and former Scientologist Paul Haggis claims in the article to have heard her
story first-hand. Another former Scientologist told the magazine that he
watched several of Boniadi's alleged audition tapes while working at the
Church's in-house film studio.

LOOKING FOR AN AGENT?
Hi,
So sorry for neglecting you on here. It's just that the Casting platform really has taken off.
When you do eventually find an Agent, how good are they? If you are lucky and have a good agent anything you do for yourself can only propel your career.
If you have not got a good agent then you have to take more control of your situation.
One of my Agents looked after a lot of TV and radio presenters. When one had dropped out of favour and he could no longer market them, he would turn his attention to the others in his stable that he could. I was in the office on occasions when a job came in that I knew I was suitable for. I wasn't offered that opportunity. The Agent choose the safe bet, the guy who was most marketable at the time. Understandable isn't it? So I had to find my own work through my own contacts.
What becomes of you, the Artiste, if after a period of time nothing is happening?
You may discover that the Agent has handed over your file, your future, your career to some intern in their office to take care of! It happened to me.
I signed to an Agency for 3 years. After 3 months he left to become a partner of another Agency. My 'file' was passed to someone else in the office to be taken care of, someone less quailfied. After 2 months I left, but not before having to pay him off with £7,000 for the release of my contract.
Whether you are an established artiste or a newcomer to show-business there is only one answer.
A true professional, a very good negotiator and a good businessman. He represents himself. His career has gone where he wanted it to go. Ross, or 'Braveheart' as I call him, now lives under the letter D of the Hollywood sign in LA, in a great house, with a pool, his own radio studio and his lovely lady. He is doing what he enjoys and on his terms.
The 'Agent', as we once knew it, is a dying breed. It's a dated concept. Times have changed and now there is an approach that could see you living next door to Braveheart, under the letter O. A new medium has made it possible to cut out the middle man and end handing over a percentage of your hard earned money.
The 'Internet' has opened up a new way for you to be seen and heard and to find the jobs that Agents used to only have access to. My casting platform displays auditions and opportunities that are updated daily.
From my contacts, I have made work in the entertainment industry accessible to everyone. Newcomers, Actors and established Presenters. Instead of paying an Agent, being tied to a contract, missing the opportunities and waiting for the phone to ring, it's time you controlled your career.
Be your own Agent. First build your CV, add your photos and details on what is your 'personal Profile Page' and then apply for any of the listings that you feel suitable for. Control your future.
By the way a lot of the postings I used to add here I now put on the Nino Firetto Casting Facebook Page, please 'Like It' .. I promise not to leave it so long till the next time.
If you would still like to give 15 or 20% of your earnings to an Agent here is a list of them that you might like to try with their contact details click on -> Leeches
So sorry for neglecting you on here. It's just that the Casting platform really has taken off.
Finding an Agent?
Why wait for an Agent to put you forward? That is if you have got one. Many people find it hard to find an Agent. There is that Catch 22 situation where the so called 'good Agents' won't accept you on their books unless you have a track record or experience and you can't get either unless you have an Agent. Do you really need an Agent though?![]() |

MY DAYS AS A MOVIE EXTRA
Written by Jadie Troy-Pryde for Yahoo
Ever wondered what it's like to walk around a movie set, chatting to directors and acting in a film alongside some famous names? Growing up I was lucky enough to do exactly that. As an extra, you're not always given the opportunity to pull out all the stops for that Oscar winning performance, but it's a fantastic way to get to know what it feels like behind the scenes. And it's a pretty big deal when Steven Spielberg introduces himself to you …
If you think you have what it takes, take a look at what you can expect from life as a movie extra.
Big names
When I was 11, I was an extra in the BBC series, 'Band of Brothers'. I was told that David Schwimmer and the casting agents had chosen me specifically from my agency for a scene at a beautiful location in Hertfordshire. Once I had finished in hair, make-up and costume, I was taken to the set. I remember a man with glasses coming over to me and shaking my hand. 'Hello, I'm Steven,' he said. 'I'm Jadie,' I replied nonchalantly, and turned away. It was only later when my Dad told me who it was that I realised - I had met Steven Spielberg, and I didn't even know it! I've met tonnes of celebrities from working as an extra, from Helen Mirren to Paul Whitehouse. Being an extra is a fantastic way to meet some of the biggest names in film and it's a great way to make yourself known by directors, producers and casting agents. Just make sure you know who you're talking to!
Looking the part
Perhaps it's not everyone's idea of fun, but one of my favourite things about being on set was getting ready for filming. You may be under the impression that as an extra it doesn't really matter what you wear or how your hair looks - WRONG! The director is trying to create a whole scene, and you are a part of that. I once filmed a scene for a movie called Sam's Circus which was set in the 40's, and everything from the bobbles in my hair to the socks on my feet was chosen specifically by the styling and wardrobe teams. It's a great way to experiment with different looks, too - and it provides you with access to a vast number of outfits!
Meeting people
The most rewarding part of being a movie extra is talking to exciting people. Shooting scenes often takes much longer than you'd imagine, and when you're on set for up to twelve hours you start to realise how much time is spent getting to know other extras and actors. Don't disregard the people who are doing the same job as you just because you'd rather try and network with the film crew. Between takes is the perfect time to get chatting to 'Man 6' who is standing next to you because you never know how much experience they have had and you can always learn from other people. He may be 'Man 6' now, but in two years he could be the next Russell Crowe.
Last but not least… eating!
Shooting could start at 6:00 a.m. and finish at 10:00 p.m. It's a tiring job, and you're often feeling rather hungry once you've walked through the same hallway for the 78th time. Luckily, being a movie extra means that you'll never go hungry on set. Often there are several tables, pop-up tents and food vans not too far away that are always happy to provide you with a decent, hot and the best part - complimentary! - meal. You're sure to find something to eat whether it is morning, noon or night and you will always be well looked after. If you're filming a scene in a kitchen or food hall, your plates will be topped up at the beginning of each take for consistency. I remember filming a dinner scene where my 'family' and I were eating a roast dinner. Every time we started filming, I went straight for the chicken, and every time we started the scene again fresh chicken was put on my plate! After the third take, however, I was so stuffed that I stuck to nibbling at the vegetables ...
Getting extra work
There are so many agencies around that it's often difficult to decide who to go with. Look at an agency's client book to see what kind of people they represent and enquire about how much work is on offer for you with regards to your age, gender and 'look'. As an extra, I could earn anything from £100+ for a few hours work. You may not have the lead role, but always be the three P's: professional, punctual and a pleasure to work with.

Sad to hear that Frank Carson passed away this week. I loved the fact that his humour was family friendly and he was always smiling.
